Many people ask me how long does it take to build a house extension? The building work is part of the calculation, however there is a lot of work which must be done before the actual build can begin. First of all the Planning Application process takes around 8 weeks to obtain a decision and then the Building Regulation plans application takes around 5 to 8 weeks. This does not include any drawing or design time and therefore you need to begin all of the necessary consents approximately 6 months prior to the commencement of works.
