Extension into the smallest of spaces

I was contacted by the home owners of this property in Sunderland to look at the small gap at the side of their property. It was narrow and dark. They needed a little more space on the ground floor and the brief was to include a shower room, utility and kitchen extension on the side. When I first looked at the property it was as the images below.

I surveyed the existing property and carefully prepared a design in close collaboration with the home owners. It was the smallest of spaces and we had a lot to squeeze in.  I also needed to ensure the space was light and airy. The ground floor of the property is now transformed. I managed to extend the kitchen into the additional space. We also incorporated a utility room and shower room as can be seen below.

The home owners are delighted with the work.

“We contacted three architects and decided to go with Lynsey Rollins.  Lynsey was punctual, considerate and came up with options for our predicament of having little space to extend out and the lack of daylight.  She contacted previous clients to arrange site visits for us and used her shortlist of preferred builders to get several quotes.  Lynsey also minuted a meeting between us and the chosen builder so that everyone knew what had been agreed.  We are very pleased with the outcome of the larger kitchen, utility area and shower room and virtually live in there now!  Thanks Lynsey.”

It was a pleasure to work on this small space to the side of the property. We created an extension which exceeded the home owners hopes. The space is in constant use and has greatly changed the way they live in the property.
