Baptist Chapel transformed into Physiotherapy clinic

This Baptist Chapel is in the centre of Langley Park and was built in 1895. I was asked by the owners to work with them on the Planning and Building regulation applications. After obtaining the approvals they worked with a contractor for the building work.

As can be seen above, the Chapel was essentially one main room with an extended vestry and wc to the rear. The alterations were designed in close collaboration with the owner. The additional space for the studio was provided by the inclusion of a mezzanine level.

The created Physiotherapy clinic on the ground floor offers a welcoming reception area with plenty of space to sit and wait for your appointment, 4 treatment rooms, staff room with shower room and a disabled access WC and baby changing room. The treatment rooms are all individual with starry ceilings and plenty of space to relax. They each have a window ensuring natural light is always obtained. The staff enjoy working in each of the rooms and the facilities available to them.

On the mezzanine / first floor level there is a good sized studio space, perfect for classes. Many of the original features of the chapel remain utilising updated materials in the windows, ceiling and entrance porch.

The chapel has been transformed and the owners are delighted. Their business is growing and expanding due to this new home. Their clients and all who visit love the quality of light, large accessible spaces and welcoming quality of the building. It was a pleasure to be involved with this project and see it come to fruition.
